Stacey earned her bachelor's degree from Texas Woman's University, focusing on Early Childhood education for grades Pre-K through 4th grade. She also holds a Master of Education degree in Special Education from The University of Texas at Tyler. Stacey worked for Denton Independent School District (ISD) from 2004 to 2017, where she taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, English as a Second Language, and inclusion classes.
After her first five years in the classroom, she received training as a Dyslexia Therapist through Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. For the following eight years, she served students with dyslexia in Denton ISD. In 2017, after earning her diagnostician certification, Stacey began working with several private practices in the metroplex and contracted with the Denton ISD Dyslexia Department and the Denton County Special Education Cooperative as an educational diagnostician.
With over 21 years of experience providing intervention programs and assessments for students with learning disabilities in both public schools and private practice, Stacey has extensive knowledge of research-based assessment tools and identification criteria for learning disabilities, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. She is trained in and has implemented Orton-Gillingham-based programs, including Take Flight, Pre-Flight, Rite Flight, MTA, and Alphabetic Phonics.
Stacey holds state certifications in general education for grades EC-4 and 4-8, English as a Second Language for grades EC-8, Educational Diagnostician, ICD Level II ADHD Specialist, and Academic Language Therapist (CALT). Her experience allows her to recommend specialized instruction plans and appropriate accommodations needed for individuals to maximize their learning potential in both classroom and workplace settings.
Outside of her professional work, Stacey enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with family and friends, and attending sporting events.
